Volvo parks new FH lorry on eBay in charity auction

Swedish vehicle manufacturer Volvo has put the very first model of its brand new FH truck on eBay as part of a charity auction.

Swedish vehicle manufacturer Volvo has put the very first model of its brand new FH truck on eBay as part of a charity auction.

The heavy goods vehicle was the first to roll off the production line and is expected to be a hit with enthusiasts.

People from across Europe, as well as interested parties in Israel and Turkey, can place a bid. So far, just under 100 bids have been received, with the current high bid standing at £178,409. Every penny raised by the auction will be sent to the Star for Life Programme, which helps young children in South Africa who have contracted HIV.

The winner of the auction will certainly be relieved to know they won't have to pay a parcel delivery charge.

To help spark interest in the new truck, Volvo has launched a social media campaign and created a number of videos featuring its latest creation. One, which shows world record-holding highliner Faith Dickey carry out a tightrope walk between two moving FH trucks, has been viewed almost six million times since being posted in mid-August.

The auction is due to end at 10.28am on Friday, September 28.
