A tyre which helped motorcycling superstar John McGuinness ride to his 19th race win on the Isle of Man TT course has been sold on eBay.
The rubber was used by McGuinness during the Royal London 360 Superstock race at this year's TT competition at the start of the month. It was put up for auction with the aim of raising funds for an Isle of Man resident who was left paralysed following a hit and run accident.
The tyre comes with a chalk inscription – John McGuinness IOM TT2012 TT SBK Win. A last minute bid saw the auction finish at £235.
A separate auction on eBay is also hoping to raise a considerable amount of cash for charity. Bids have been flooding in for a motorbike designed by Manchester United and England Footballer Wayne Rooney.
The motorcycle, which has been created by Danish firm Lauge Jensen, and comes with Rooney's number 10 painted on top of the petrol tank, has already attracted a high bid of just under £110,000.
All the money raised from the sale of the bike will go to KidsAid, a Danish charity which helps to support ill children in Denmark.
