The Highlands of Scotland could be set to suffer after Royal Mail has announced it is stopping five post bus services across the region.
Citing a low number of passengers, small amounts of mail on the buses and a lack of funding, the Royal Mail has confirmed that Friday (April 16th) will be the last day the service would run, reports the BBC.
People living around the Diabaig to Achnasheen, Applecross to Torridon and Torridon to Strathcarron routes in Wester Ross are set to be affected, alongside people living in the further north routes of Thurso to Tongue and Bettyhill to Thurso.
Helen Murchison, chairwoman of Lochcarron Community Council, told the BBC the post bus service cuts would "particularly disadvantage older people and those who did not have access to transport in a remote part of the country".
The National Federation of SubPostmasters recently claimed the Post Office network could not survive any more closures.
It described the service as a "national asset which binds local communities and economies together".
