After it added three new categories for electronics product listings on its various websites around the world, eBay has now added a further one.

A separate category is now available for laptops computers, which is added to those for motherboards, CPUs and desktops which were brought in three weeks ago.

Sellers are being given until September 24 to update their listings to reflect the new classifications, but have also been warned that item categories must match those featured in the eBay master catalogue, including the relevant category identification number.

eBay recommends using its catalogue adoption tool, which ensures that listed items match an official catalogue number, designed to help would-be buyers search for the right product or component, and ensure that sellers place their products in the correct category on the site.
