eBay extends car parts compatibility checker

Sellers and buyers of a range of car parts on eBay should now find it easier to do business with each other for a range of spares and accessories, after the online marketplace extended the availability of its parts compatibility tool.

According to eBay, the tool lets sellers include all the makes and models which a part fits in their listing, "helping to save time and money and giving buyers an easy way to find the right parts for their vehicle".

The service, it adds, "should help result in fewer queries and returns".

eBay's database of vehicle models and specs runs to 16,000 different entries, so all mainstream models should be covered.

New parts now added to the database are wheel nuts, roof racks and towbars.

Importantly, for sellers of these products, this should now remove the need for them to use multiple listings of a single item, saving the amount they have to pay in listings fees.

Importantly, sellers are advised to pick the listing for each individual part which has yielded the highest amount of recent sales.
