Amazon self-service lockers tried at Co-op stores

Internet retailer Amazon has done a deal with The Co-operative which has seen collection lockers placed in six of its stores.

It marks the latest expansion of Amazon's self-service facility, which has already been launched in several shopping centres in both the UK and US.

The lockers have been installed in four locations in London and Kent, and one each in Stockport and Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

Each locker carries easily noticeable Amazon branding with a yellow and grey colour scheme and the Amazon lockers logo picked out in white.

Amazon customers who wish to collect their goods from one of the lockers are sent an email when their purchases are ready for collection. This contains a unique PIN code which can then be used to open the lockers. Goods will remain stored for three working days after a notification has been sent.
