Worldwide shipping firm FedEx has been rewarded for its environmental efforts by being named in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for North America.
The DJSI looks at businesses' corporate economic, environmental and social performance, examining areas such as corporate governance, risk management, standards in supply chains and efforts to combat climate change.
FedEx chairman, president and chief executive officer Frederick W Smith said it is an honour to be named in the index again.
He added: "FedEx seeks to connect the world in responsible and resourceful ways.
"I am proud for all our team members' efforts and contributions to be recognised through this selection."
FedEx recently launched its EarthSmart scheme, which is aimed at ensuring there are real benefits to the environment and to affected communities before investing in new programmes or assets.
Meanwhile, rival parcel delivery company DHL recently announced plans to retrofit its warehouses with new lighting systems to cut back on carbon emissions.
As part of the firm's GoGreen campaign, its Global Forwarding division has committed to reducing its carbon output by 30 per cent over the next ten years.
