Worldwide shipping firms operating in the Asia-Pacific will no doubt be pleased to hear that China and India are leading the world, when it comes to mobile commerce.

A new report from KPMG found that despite concerns about privacy and data security, consumers in the two countries are keen to purchase goods online using their mobile phones.

44 per cent of respondents to a survey on mobile banking and retail transactions in China say they use mobile to buy goods online.

This figure is almost three times as high as the number from the previous survey - which used 2008 data.

The survey also found that shoppers in the BRIC countries – that is; Brazil, India, Russia and China - were found to be far more willing to pay for online content.
