Web advertising spend rises 2,200%

Research by the Internet Advertising Bureau and accounts firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, says that the first decade of the 21st century showed a huge rise in spending, on advertising displayed on the internet.

Reflecting the trend for increased e-retail spending by customers, the news means that a reliable and secure parcel delivery service is more desirable after than ever.

The two organizations found that following the dot com crash of 2001, spending on online marketing had increased every year in the decade.

Figures show that eventually, expenditure dedicated to web advertising had grown a colossal 2,200 per cent.

The recession however meant that although 2009 saw less dynamic growth, online adspend still increased by 4.2 per cent, up to £3.54 billion from £3.35 billion in 2008.

One of the biggest growth categories was paid search, which rose by 9.5 per cent – almost 61 per cent of all online advertising layout.ADNFCR-2658-ID-19704595-ADNFCR
