South-west London postal strike begins

Parcel Delivery Video Transcript

The dispute between thee Royal Mail and Communications Workers Union shows no signs of abating, with a 24-hour strike taking place across London today.

Delivery offices and collection hubs across the city will be empty until tomorrow unless disputes over pay, jobs and working conditions can be ironed out.

This is the 11th time since June that the capital's postal system has ground to a halt, with the public bearing the brunt of the problems.

The Royal Mail and the CWU have so far failed to come close to a resolution, with the former accusing the union of political posturing and the CWU stating that the Royal Mail is trying to impose changes without agreement.

The result of these handbags has been that there are about 20 million undelivered pieces of mail sitting in London sorting offices going absolutely nowhere.

And the situation doesn't look like improving any time soon, with walk-outs taking place across the capital until Saturday. ADNFCR-2658-ID-19352084-ADNFCR
