Lifting the limit on the amount of door drop mail permitted for delivery, could mean Royal Mail doubling its share of the market.

Part of the recent deal agreed with the Communication Workers Union saw the traditional three items per household limit eradicated.

Royal Mail say the development will allow them to vie more effectively with market competitors.

PostSwitch.com say the arrangement could see Royal Mail's market share rise from 25 to 50 per cent.

Market analyst at PostSwitch, Chris Phillips, says Royal Mail have an opportunity to expand their ventures, through focusing on regions which are unreachable to some delivery services.

PostSwtich rate the door drop market as being worth over 500 million pounds.
