Parcel delivery employees will be hoping that a new campaign lobbying for better protection against attacks by dangerous dogs, will prove fruitful.
Legal protection is being urged by the Communication Workers' Union, who have seen these appeals supported by the Royal College of Nursing.
While several postal workers do receive injuries each year, the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act does not, as maintained by the Communication Workers' Union, provide sufficient defence against the issue.
People hurt in the line of postal duty currently have no right to legal redress should an incident occur on private property.
