Royal Mail has told its staff that they do not have to deliver to homes in a Devonshire cobbled street during bad weather.
The Daily Telegraph reports that 53 year-old Sally Bellamy of Bideford, north Devon has now received 'erratic' deliveries for three years.
She lives in the town's last remaining cobbled street, and says that her regular postman will not walk the distance to her house, even in good weather, and instead dumps mail with a neighbour.
Ms Bellamy described the situation as 'ridiculous', claiming that even with arthritis she was able to negotiate the street.
Royal Mail said that staff had been warned to avoid deliveries to the road, but only when it was deemed unsafe.
