The multiple international postal companies across Europe have received acclaim from PostEurop, following their effective response to the European airline chaos of the last few weeks.
The association of 48 European public postal operators says that parcel couriers throughout the continent were successful in minimising delays in deliveries as far as possible.
Customers were subject to receiving mail via alternative methods, be it through courier trucks, trains, or by sea.
Although there remained some difficulties when making overseas deliveries, the existing network of road and rail proved good enough to get packages to consumers.
Botond Szebeny, secretary general for PostEurop, said:
"The successful handling of this crisis situation has again reinforced the value of close cooperation between European Postal Operators, in order to maintain customer service."
