The holiday is one of eight in the year that the parcel delivery firm observes, though its Express Critical service remains open 365 days a year.

Companies in the UK will need to remember that deliveries will not be made on the day, though of course as this is not a holiday in Britain, pick-ups will be made.

The next time UPS will not be operating is Thanksgiving Day, which takes place on November 26th this year.
