Sending a parcel to Spain for elderly relatives could be something more and more Brits do in the future, after a new study suggests the country is a retirement hotspot.

The majority of Brits want to retire overseas, according to Aon Consulting, with just under 43 per cent saying they want to stay in the UK after finishing work.

Meanwhile, separate research from Standard Life has found that Spain tops the list of destinations to where British people want to retire.

The Aon Consulting study also noted that Spain is extremely popular across the whole of Europe.

The research shows a quarter of European workers want to enjoy their retirement overseas indicating the Iberian country is their first choice.

Aon Consulting reported France was the second most popular place for people to live out their days.
