Frankfurt could be one of the main destinations for businesses needing to send a parcel to Germany, as the city is reporting a boom in hotel bookings.

According to figures STR Global, the city's hotels saw a 20.7 per cent increase in bookings during June, compared to the same month in 2009.

Much of these were no doubt business travellers, as the city is a financial centre and the location of the German stock market, says a Gisela Moser - a spokesperson for the Frankfurt Tourist and Congress Board.

She said: "We assume that a high percentage of British guests are business travellers."

She explained: "Frankfurt is a centre of commerce with lots of congresses, conventions and exhibitions going on all year round."

Ms Moser added that the number of British hotel guests has risen steadily over the last three years.
