Parcel to France boost for Haiti

Parcel Delivery Video Transcript

A new mail processing centre set up in earthquake stricken Haiti will hopefully further boost the island's recovery.

The development will allow families to send a parcel to France and other foreign countries.

The 600 square metre centre has taken the form of a gigantic tent in capital Port-au-Prince - employing around 60 people and was constructed as part of an emergency aid project.

It will handle letters, parcel deliveries and express mail services, as well as providing mail distribution through post boxes and serving as an exchange office for worldwide shipping.

Director general of the Universal Postal Union, Edouard Dayan said that post must be made a priority in the country's reconstruction efforts as it connects people and businesses with one another.

He commented: "We will continue to highlight the importance of integrating postal services in plans designed to stimulate Haiti's economy."ADNFCR-2658-ID-19882415-ADNFCR
