Parcel for movie spook fans

Parcel Delivery Video Transcript

A spooky piece of movie history is going up on eBay this weekend, after the Maryland town of Burkittsville - as featured in the chilling 1999 film The Blair Witch Project - decided to put its town welcome signs under the online hammer.

Burkittsville Town Council has agreed to put all four metal signs, displaying the words "Welcome to Burkittsville", up for auction and the first will be released in a few days, allowing one lucky movie fan the chance to get a very special parcel delivery.

It is not known how much the famous signs will finally sell for, but a reserve price has reportedly been set at $1,500 (£1,000).

According to Artisan Entertainment, the film studio that made The Blair Witch Project, locals have been frustrated by souvenir-hunters who kept stealing the town's signs - so the decision was made to replace them with versions that do not look like the ones in the film.

One of the most successful horror movies ever made, The Blair Witch Project is also famous for grossing nearly $250 million (£169 million) from a comparatively low budget.ADNFCR-2658-ID-19842652-ADNFCR
