Worldwide shipping could be one industry to benefit from more internet start-ups.
The idea comes as it was claimed more and more students are looking to be their own boss.
Co-founder of student advice website ratemyplacement.co.uk, Chris Wickson, said graduates look set to fill the predicted boom in self-employment.
He said: "You're going to see a lot of start-ups coming out from students who are either at university or have come from the graduate market."
He explained this was happening as students realise there are not enough jobs out there for them.
His comments come after the Federation of Small Businesses said it expects to see more people self-employed to compensate for fewer jobs being available.
Mr Wickson believes that the internet is going to be the biggest area for growth, as web-savvy students make use of their skills and knowledge within the sector.
