Store and internet shoppers could soon be able to verify the goods inside parcels they send and receive, as to their ethical credentials, before they get sent.

Moral customers are now able to make use of a new mobile phone app from Barcoo, to scan the barcodes of products to find out background information on the goods they purchase.

This could include how environmentally sound the production of an item has been and what the carbon footprint of the goods are – even how well a firm has been treating its personnel.

The app is currently only available in the German language, but is expected to be rolled out in English speaking countries soon.

This will mean principled shoppers can rest assured that what they order matches their own ethical stance.
