Cyclists making parcel deliveries for FedEx in the US are helping to raise money and awareness for a good cause, at the same time as they show off the latest in shipment tracking technology.
FedEx has sponsored this month's AIDS/LifeCycle Ride, which takes cyclists from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise cash for AIDS services in California.
Each of the parcel delivery firm's bicycles were fitted with a SenseAware device, which links to the internet to provide GPS location, bike speed, air temperature and elevation.
As well as raising cash for charity, the event was the perfect way to showcase SenseAware, which will be launched next month for high-sensitivity shipments like surgical kits and other medical equipment.
One of the riders, Nicole Heckman, commented on her blog: "I have been searching for a physically challenging goal with a very worthwhile cause and found both in the AIDS/LifeCycle ride.
"This grueling journey in a breathtaking setting is a celebration of life with the money raised going towards ending a disease that can be prevented."
The AIDS/LifeCycle Ride plots its route down the coast of California and the FedEx team completed their journeys on June 12th.
