eBay.com has announced a leap in live listings as sellers prepare for a busy Christmas.

The company reported this week that they currently hold more than 200 million listings – an increase of 33 per cent on a year ago.

The surge in interest has been so huge that it even caused the auction website's search mechanism to falter briefly over the weekend – an issue that has now been fixed.
