A new subsidiary website for fashion brands has been announced by auction site, eBay UK.

The site's UK managing director made the revelation at the Retail Week Conference in London.

Carrying the address of fashion.ebay.co.uk, MD Mark Lewis said the site would carry more images and interaction, than the existing eBay site.

Mr Lewis said that the new site would allow sellers to distribute branded goods at higher volumes, although the site will be restricted to just major retailers.

The move is likely to draw criticism from smaller and independent sellers, however, as the new development will prove damaging to their businesses.

However, fashion is expected not to be the last category, treated in this way by eBay UK.
