Parcel delivery customers look to have been busy once again, as online retail sales outperform the high street, once again.

The figures for May, from the British Retail Consortium, show that e-tail is performing at its best level since December.

The organization, who released the stats in association with accountancy firm KPMG, said growth in sales for internet, telephone, and mail order stood at 22 per cent for the month.

This is set against expansion of 16 per cent in the previous month of April.

By comparison, high street sales during May stood at 3 per cent – although this falls to only 0.8 per cent when the opening and failure of stores is accounted for.
