Australia Post is coming under increasing pressure to make it easier for people to send a parcel to Australia and the residents of Alice Springs.

Indigenous residents are calling for improvements to be made to delivery services in the area.

These are currently being carried out by the underfunded Tangentyere Council, according to ABC Online.

Executive director for the council, William Tillmouth explained that the current approach of dumping all post for the aboriginal residents, into one bag is unworkable.

He said: "Australia Post needs to review the situation and deal with it."

In April, Australia Post suffered a host of delays delivering international mail, as a result of flight restrictions.

Mail posted in Australia to European destinations and the UK was cleared, after it was held in Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong while flights were awaiting resumption.
