Private post services, such as Parcel2Go, have been making massive inroads into Royal Mail’s traditional customer base.

The move away from the Post Office is being put down to the strikes last year – they were called off over Christmas, but there’s still the threat of more days of industrial action to come in 2010.

Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union say they don’t yet have any hard figures on how much business has moved to the private sector.
