Using a courier to USA could become greener and cheaper, after DHL announced a new scheme to retrofit its warehouse to reduce carbon emissions.
The Lighting Retrofit Carbon Efficiency Improvement Program is to be rolled out at the firm's Global Forwarding division in the Americas.
It claims to set an "aggressive" carbon emissions reduction target of five per cent over 2009 baseline figures by the end of this year.
As part of DHL's wider GoGreen campaign, Global Forwarding has already committed to reducing its carbon output by 30 per cent over the next ten years.
DHL is targeting lighting because it says that it is the single biggest cause of electricity use.
