£1.4m was spent online in just one minute at 13:43 on the 7th of December.

That makes it the busiest shopping minute ever.

Between 13:00 and 14:00 £33m was taken in sales according to the Interactive Media Retail Group.

Experts had widely predicted it would be the busiest online shopping day of the year as people prepare for Christmas.

Topping the list of gifts bought was the Nintendo Wii, closely followed by the Wii Fit and the Samsung LCD TV.
