Journalist reveals Post Office frustration.
When one goes to the Post Office to send parcels or letters they can usually be sure that there will be a long queue to greet them.
Mary Dejevsky, writing in the Independent, said she recently visited a Post Office to send Christmas cards to loved ones in foreign parts and thought she had struck lucky as the queue did not look too long.
She thought she had avoided any 'labyrinth' queues when she saw there were just five people waiting in front of three counters, but she soon realised she had not.
"20 minutes later, I was second in the queue and just one of the seven counters was staffed
by the time my turn came, there were 15 people behind me, many of them with that glazed, depressed look that I thought unique to Eastern Europeans under communism," Ms Dejevsky said.
Residents in the East Hampshire village of Petersfield will have to put up with long queues for the foreseeable future, the Petersfield Post reported, although they could use Post Office alternatives for their parcel delivery needs.
