Worcester Post Office users disbelief at queue claims

Post Office queuesElderly Post Office users in Worcester are angry over claims there is only a four-minute average wait for customers.

Post Office users in Worcester are up in arms over a new report which they claim exaggerates the level of waiting times experienced in the queues, it has been reported.

According to Worcester City Council, a mystery shopper recorded an average waiting time of four minutes for people using the Post Office, which is located on the first floor of the WH Smith retail outlet in the town centre.

The Berrow's Worcester Journal reports the results were relayed to the public during a special council meeting and were met with cries of disbelief from pensioners who regularly use the Post Office.

One dismayed customer shouted out: "What time of day was that taken because I would zoom in at that time?"

Disgruntled customer Paul Bryant from Southsea in Hampshire is launching a High Court challenge to the Post Office.

He claims waiting times are now far longer than they were before a policy limiting queuing to five minutes was ditched in 2003 and wants the organisation to overturn its decision.

Mr Bryant claims smaller branch closures in the last 12 months have made the queues even more problematic, the Express reported.
