Almost half of women access sites like Facebook while away from home.
Women wanting to send a parcel while travelling may be tuning into social media sites to find a courier delivery service, new figures suggest.
According to a survey from Women on their Way, nearly half (46 per cent) of women access social networking sites such as Facebook or Twitter while they are away from home.
Alyson Johnson, vice-president of corporate communications at Wyndham Worldwide, which is behind the Women on their Way project, said the findings are evidence of people becoming more engaged online while away from home.
"Through blogs, expert advice, and an interactive Facebook page, Women on their Way embraces women in the online community and encourages them to interact and connect with other like-minded women about their travel experiences," she added.
Facebook appears the site of choice for most women, while females under the age of 35 are more likely to plug in than those aged from 35 to 50-years-of-age.
According to Tom Smith, managing director of Global Web Index, the fastest growing sectors of the population for using social media are, in fact, those aged over 35.
