The closure of the Post Office in Westbury could leave residents without a central mail service for up to five months.Residents in the Wiltshire town of Westbury could face being without a central post service for five months, it has been reported.The Post Office claims the local branch is under threat after supermarket giant Morrisons bought the store in which it was located, reports the Wiltshire Times.If an agreement cannot be struck with a new postmaster to take over the branch, the store could be shut for five months which could lead to people living in the area looking for Post Office alternatives.A spokesman for the Post Office told the newspaper it was "at present looking for persons and suitable premises".He added: "Post Office Ltd would like to apologise to customers for the pending lapse in service along with our assurances that everything practically possible is being done to secure the long-term future of the branch."Residents from Ellesmere have been voicing their anger recently over plans to close the Royal Mail postal delivery office in the town, with all service being moved nine miles away to Oswestry.Article Added: 23/04/2009 16:10:37
