Village to lost Pose Office for time being

Closure for villageThe village of Great Sampford is losing its Post Office, but plans are being put into action for a replacement to be opened.

People living in a village in Essex are set to have to look for post office alternatives for a period after plans were announced to close their local service.

The Great Sampford post office, which serves the village just outside Saffron Walden, has been earmarked for closure on September 10th.

According to the Cambridge Evening News, the reason for closure is that the postmaster resigned and the premises are no longer available as a post office.

In a response to the plans, Post Office Ltd claims a replacement postmaster and new premises are being sought after, with a view to reopening the branch in the future.

A spokesman said: "We understand that the customers in Great Sampford will be concerned about the future of Post Office services in their area.

"The provision of a Post Office branch in the local community is important to us and we will continue to work hard to restore a facility in the area as soon as possible. Unfortunately our efforts have so far failed."

Great Yarmouth's Conservative candidate Brandon Lewis recently called for some insights into the future of a post office in his constituency.
