The Great Sampford post office is due to close its doors in September and the hunt is on for replacement premises.People living in the Saffron Walden area are set to lose their post office, although officials claim the closure may not be permanent. The Great Sampford branch will close its doors on September 10th following the resignation of its sub-postmaster, reports the Saffron Walden Weekly News.However, services in the area may be restored as Post Office Ltd is on the hunt for a replacement postmaster and new shop space.A spokesman told the newspaper: "We understand that the customers in Great Sampford will be concerned about the future of Post Office services in their area."The provision of a Post Office branch in the local community is important to us and we will continue to work hard to restore a facility in the area as soon as possible."They added that so far they have not found anyone to fill the position.Last week, the Bradwell post office in Great Yarmouth closed its doors, meaning locals have to travel than a mile to use the nearest Post Office in Magdalen Way, Gorleston.Article Added: 07/08/2009 09:12:38
