UPS signs golf dealsUPS has signed an agreement with The Tour to sponsor a number of international golf tournaments and work as official supplier to the organisation.

UPS has signed a number of new deals to raise its profile in the world of international professional golf.

The package delivery firm, which serves over 200 countries around the globe, has been unveiled as the official supplier to the Open Championship and has penned a similar agreement with The Tour.

It has also signed deals with top professional golfers Lee Westwood and Pablo Larrazabal to represent UPS as global brand ambassadors.

Under the terms of the supplier deal, UPS will provide transportation and logistics for The Tour, which includes 53 tournaments in over two dozen countries on five continents.

Ron Rogowski, UPS head of global sponsorships, said: "The UPS international golf sponsorship program gives us a strategic platform to demonstrate UPS's capabilities on a global scale."

The delivery firm recently unveiled its trading results for the first quarter of 2009, which showed revenue of $10.9 billion (£7.38 billion) and an average volume of 14.54 million parcels handled globally on a daily basis.
