Delivery firm UPS has moved some of its European air express services to ground as some European airspace is still restricted due to volcanic ash.Parcel delivery firm UPS has shifted some of its air volume to ground in Europe in an effort to cope with disruptions to its flights brought about by the volcanic ash cloud over much of the continent. While some inter-continental express services have resumed following the opening of more European airports on April 20th, the firm has moved its intra-European express volumes through its ground network.According to the firm, this enables European customers to receive their packages by the end of the business day on which they were set to arrive.UPS emphasised that inter-continental volume from Africa, Asia and the Americas will be transported across non-impacted European airports, using the ground network where necessary. It highlighted that while its service guarantees do not apply in this type of extraordinary circumstance, consumers who have shipped a package with UPS can visit the courier's website for regular updates.Earlier this week, FedEx Express also announced it was resuming some of its intercontinental flights and was prioritising shipments in the order they had been sent.Posted by Matt WattsArticle Added: 21/04/2010 14:33:28
