A scheme is helping firms to integrate social media into their strategies.

Parcel delivery and courier services firms based in the north of England may be among those businesses getting social media training today (November 16th) in Manchester.

The Social Gathering event will see companies looking at ways of making the most out of sites like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the gathering has been organised by Innospace, which is a Manchester Metropolitan University project to help start-ups, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship.

Richard Deighton of Innospace told the newspaper: "Manchester companies are at the very forefront of the social media led revolution.

"I'm very proud that some of the most exciting and talented businesses here at Innospace are showcasing this expertise to a worldwide audience."

According to a report from Econsultancy, social media has dominated new innovation in the field of digital marketing this year.
