A leading Dutch postal group has reportedly made a bid to take control of Royal Mail's parcels delivery arm.Royal Mail's parcel delivery service is subject to a bid from TNT, according to reports. The Dutch postal group is believed to have stated its interest in adding General Logistics Systems (GLS) to its own parcel delivery service as part of a proposal handed to the government on the future of the British company. However, the Daily Telegraph claims that the offer has fallen short of ministers' £3 billion valuation, while some MPs are thought to be unhappy with some of the demands made in the plans. One such issue is TNT's proposal that a number of its executives will join Royal Mail's board. At present, GLS is though to move around 335 million parcels a year to customers throughout Europe, while the company also owns 32 central transhipment points and 680 depots.Article Added: 11/05/2009 09:27:29
