Communication Workers Union warns of further disruption to parcel delivery services.
Residents in the Thorney area of Peterborough have been warned to expect further delays to their parcel delivery services due to the adverse weather affecting the region.
Mark Cooke, area representative for the Communication Workers Union, told the Peterborough Telegraph that several postmen have suffered injuries trying to deliver mail.
He said a combination of ice and snow made conditions treacherous for Royal Mail staff but with worse weather expected in the coming days, delays to parcel delivery services are inevitable.
""When icy, the paths are horrendous and nothing is done to make them safer, you can barely stand up at times. Deliveries were not too badly affected yesterday, but with more snow on the way it is going to make outlying villages, such as Thorney, particularly difficult to reach," Mr Cooke told the newspaper.
Several areas of Scotland have had their parcel delivery services disrupted by the weather, with the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser reporting that some people have received no mail for days.
