Thank you pages 'crucial for online retailers'

Online retailers should not underestimate the importance of 'thank you for your order pages', a new report has shown.

Research by Snow Valley revealed that consumers may appreciate a page expressing the company's gratitude for shopping with them, in addition to confirmation that the parcel will be delivered to the correct address.

The study found that online retailers make numerous mistakes with their websites, including using red font to highlight important information and using small font sizes.

Another common error is that the 'thank you for your order pages' say very little, with companies leaving vast white spaces which could be filled with additional information about the product or the parcel delivery methods.

"The most frequently used phrase during our analysis was 'this looks like an afterthought' – nearly every other page we looked at showed little effort in the information, the layout or the value added content," the report concluded.

Recent research by Hostway and Zeus Technology revealed that firms are potentially losing up to £5.65 billion per year because of poorly-designed websites, which leave some customers frustrated.
