Teenager's troop package scheme rewarded A teenager from Barry has been awarded a prize for a parcel delivery scheme which sees packages sent to serving troops.

A teenage girl from Barry has been rewarded for a parcel delivery project aimed at helping keep troop morale high in Afghanistan, it has been reported.

Lauren Bjegovic, aged 17, and a number of her friends have been given a prize at this year's BT Seen and Heard Awards, which were held in the prestigious Houses of Parliament.

Ms Bjegovic and a group of her friends have been sending parcels of luxury items over to British troops in Afghanistan.

The teenager knows a number of serving troops, including her older brother, who is currently stationed in Afghanistan.

"The Seen and Heard Awards celebrate young people across the UK and worldwide who have been identified as inspirational role models for effecting change on issues that matter to them," said UK Youth Parliament chief executive Andy Hamflett.

Meanwhile, co-ordinator of the Goody Parcel Appeal in Fenland, Alec Larham, recently wrote to the Fenland Citizen to thank people for the 130 parcels which have so far been sent by international delivery to serving troops.
