A new survey has shown that online shopping customers like to use the web to conduct research before buying.

A new study from PowerReviews has shown the online shopping habits of consumers in the US.

Many parcel delivery firms from the UK ship abroad and so may be interested to hear that shoppers like to use the internet to carry out research for purchases and that the majority of those who shop online start off their buying spree with the use of a search engine.

Some 57 per cent said they head to a search engine before they looked at buying items.

President of PowerReviews Lauren Freedman said: "Whereas once online product research was left to the technology savvy looking to make a major purchase, it is now part of the mainstream shopping experience for all product categories as consumers have taken control powering their own product research."

Parcel delivery firm customers are also taking the time to read reviews of items online before making their purchases, the study showed.
