Postal services in Bristol have been affected by the Communication Workers Union's latest round of strikes.Residents in Bristol may be forced to seek post office alternatives after the Communication Workers Union's (CWU's) latest strikes hit the area.Around 1,000 postal workers from the city's Filton sorting centre are striking over Royal Mail's modernisation plans, with industrial action expected to finish at 20:00 BST today (August 14th).The BBC reports that several postcodes across the city could be affected by the action, including BS13 and BS14.Speaking to the news provider, David Wilshire, regional branch secretary for the CWU, said a 70 per cent yes vote was returned over the strike.He added: "The strike action is in response to Royal Mail ignoring agreements with the Trades Union."Other areas where strike action has or is being held by the CWU over the course of this week include Stoke, London and Basildon.Article Added: 14/08/2009 09:30:32
