Royal Mail has claimed that strikes organised by the Communication Workers Union can "only damage" its operations.Industrial action organised by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) can "only damage" the Royal Mail, the company has claimed. In a statement, the postal organisation has stated that it is "still committed" to entering discussions with the union and warned that the strikes would only have a negative impact on its parcel delivery services.Royal Mail added that all of the changes it has made to services in recent months were agreed with the CWU in official agreements.Paul Tolhurst, Royal Mail's operations director, said: "The union continues to try to back pedal from its commitment to modernisation and impose a veto on the progress. "We urge the CWU to abandon strikes and the threat of strikes, and focus on providing customers with the service they need and expect, rather than planning to hurt them with the threat of more strikes."The CWU recently served notice for a national ballot on further strikes, with the polls expected to open on September 17th.Written by Tom SandsArticle Added: 11/09/2009 09:57:45
