Strike action 'to undermine Royal Mail's future'

Royal Mail has claimed strike action will harm its futureThe decision of postal workers in London and Scotland to strike will harm Royal Mail's efforts to create "a successful future", it has been claimed.

Industrial action against the Royal Mail's modernisation plans will threaten the company's "drive to build a successful future", it has been suggested.

A number of postal staff in London and Scotland who are members of the Communication Workers Union are set to strike over the next couple of days, which could lead many people to seek parcel delivery alternatives.

Royal Mail has criticised the plans in a statement released to Hell Mail, claiming that the action would only "hurt customers".

It added: "We will be doing eveything possible to provide services in those areas where the union is planning strikes with management volunteers making as many deliveries as possible, and postboxes remaining open with collections taking place."

Dave Ward, the deputy general secretary of the CWU, claimed Royal Mail is "failing on the big picture" in efforts to modernise.
