A post office in Stornaway is to close after the subpostmaster handed in his resignation.The Northbay post office in Stornaway is to close temporarily as its subpostmaster has resigned.It has been revealed that the site is expected to close its doors for a period from August 31st, which could impact on parcel delivery services and lead many people to seek post office alternatives.According to the Stornaway Gazette, Post Office representatives have claimed they will work hard to get the location's services up and running as soon as possible.Kenny Lamont, field change advisor for Post Office, told the newspaper: "Despite our best efforts to maintain a Post Office counter service at this location, we have no other option but to temporarily close this branch."Royal Mail recently announced plans to invest a further £120 million into modernising its services, with some of the funding set to go towards new equipment for postmen and women in the UK.Article Added: 22/07/2009 14:53:35
