Social media is being put to the test by tracking Santa as he makes his deliveries tonight.Social media is being used for a different purpose this evening, as children around the world can tune in to Facebook, Twitter and the like to stay updated with the progress of Santa's international package delivery service. OnStar has teamed up with Norad (North America Aerospace Defense Command), which for the last 50 or so years has allowed kids to track Santa's sleigh as he whizzes around making deliveries of presents. This year, instead of listening to the progress on the radio, children can trace his route with the help of social media sites. "We are honoured to help the world's busiest traveller find his way this holiday season," OnStar vice-president Scott Kubicki told Wired.com. "We know with our core suite of services, Santa's travels will be much easier." Recently, Postcode Anywhere came up with a competition offering a £250 prize to software designers who could come up with the optimum route for Santa to take.
