A new test to avoid using Facebook when drunk has been unveiled.Ordering a parcel delivery by mistake when drunk may be one thing, but leaving abusive, drunken messages on Facebook about friends, family and colleagues is quite another. That is why US software firm Webroot came up with a social media breathalyser to prevent anyone who has a night on the tiles regretting their visit to Facebook or Twitter when they stagger in. The Social Media Sobriety Test involves some simple tasks that have to be performed by the user before allowing access to their social media account. Typing the alphabet backwards and keeping a cursor within a circle using the mouse are two of the tests that will make sure drunkards do not make it on to their social networking page. Free to download, the application works with Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr and YouTube, among others. The application could also help business users of Facebook to avoid embarrassment - the Boston Consulting Group reports that a third (30 per cent) of small to medium-sized companies in the UK has a social media page.
