Social media 'demands creativity'Marketers need to show creativity when using social media.

Parcel delivery and courier services need to show creativity when engaging in a social media marketing strategy, it is claimed.

There is a "sea-change" in marketing practice at the moment that is driving this demand for creative solutions, according to Mark Batchelor, managing director of Markman OTW.

He explained that the last British government saw creativity as vital part of how the UK could pull itself out of economic difficulties.

Indeed, the importance of creative industries was highlighted in a new report from Nesta, that found the creative sector grew by 5.2 per cent in the decade up to 2007, compared with 2.9 across the economy as a whole.

Mr Batchelor said: "Agencies are being asked to come up with solutions to use these channels [social media], and there's the chance that they have to revisit how they do things - that's definitely positive."
